PERSONAL INJURY GLOSSARY
In a lien context, the law firm's confirmation of the lien amount and commitment to pay it from the settlement. CreoRx uses acknowledge rather than approve or authorize to keep the language outside steering territory.
Acknowledge, in the lien-resolution context, means the law firm confirms that the lien exists, confirms the amount owed, and commits to paying it out of the settlement proceeds. The acknowledgment can be done formally through a signed acknowledgment letter or informally through the routine processing of the lien at settlement.
The word choice matters. CreoRx and personal injury practices use acknowledge rather than approve or authorize because approval or authorization language can imply that the law firm directed the medical or pharmacy care, which creates steering risk under state attorney conduct rules and federal anti-kickback statutes. Acknowledge confirms a factual obligation without implying the firm directed the choice of provider.
The acknowledgment workflow on a CreoRx pharmacy lien is straightforward. The firm receives the lien letter, reviews the underlying fill history in the portal, requests reductions where appropriate, and acknowledges the final agreed number. The agreed number then gets paid out of the settlement at closing.
Because CreoRx's pharmacy lien data is detailed (date, drug, quantity, pharmacy, price), acknowledgment is rarely contested. The firm and CreoRx are working from the same ledger, the reduction conversation moves quickly, and acknowledgment closes the file.
